One of the most cosmopolitan islands of Greece, Corfu is located on the northern side of the Ionian Sea. Venetian style island with lovely beaches and relaxing feeling.
Corfu Town charms visitors at first sight with the Venetian style that reminds very much of Italian towns, like Venice and Florence.
Beautiful beaches around the island, such as Paleokastritsa, Agios Gordis, Nissaki and others.

The island of Corfu, also known as Kerkyra, has many wonderful sights. Many conquerors arrived on the island through centuries, including British and Italians, leaving an evident mark on the local culture.

The Old Town is a gem for sightseeing, with the two Venetian fortresses, the museums, Spianada Square and Liston Street, the wonderful paved street that is a copy of Rue de Rivoli in Paris.

Food and Drink

This Greek veal Sofrito recipe is one of the most famous traditional Corfu dishes, along with the local meat pie (kreatopita). What makes this Greek dish so popular and unique is the melt in the mouth, perfectly cooked veal/beef and the intense garlic and vinegar flavor.
Pastisada : It is a traditional corfiot dish, mainly made with rooster meat or beef.

Kumquat :is famous as the traditional product of Corfu. Out of kumquat, the locals make liqueurs and delicious spoon sweets.

Ginger beer is a traditional and tasty refreshment drink that is produced only in Corfu. It was first introduced to the islands during the British rule (18th century) and it is made till today

Baked small fish: This is a recipe that comes from Corfu Island. It is called Bourtheto

Access

By bus:
There are three daily KTEL buses between Corfu and Athens and four daily buses between Igoumenitsa and Athens. There is also at least a daily bus (maybe 2) between Corfu and Thessaloniki.

By plane:
There are scheduled flights to Corfu from Athens several times a day on Olympic or Aegean, the trip takes an hour or less. There are also flights from Thessaloniki on Aegean all year round.
