Embarking on a school tour to Thessaloniki, Vergina, Amphipolis, Meteora, Delphi, and Athens offers students a comprehensive exploration of Greece’s rich history, culture, and natural wonders. Starting in Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, students delve into its Byzantine heritage, vibrant markets, and diverse neighborhoods, setting the stage for an immersive journey.

Continuing to Vergina, students uncover the archaeological treasures of Macedonia, including the renowned royal tombs and artifacts dating back to the time of Alexander the Great’s father, King Philip II. The tour then ventures to Amphipolis, where the ancient Lion of Amphipolis monument and archaeological site captivate students with their historical significance.

Next, students marvel at the breathtaking monasteries of Meteora, perched atop towering rock formations, offering a glimpse into the spiritual and natural beauty of Greece. Delphi provides a spiritual interlude as students visit the site of the Oracle and contemplate the mysteries of ancient prophecy.

Finally, the tour culminates in Athens, where students immerse themselves in the heart of ancient civilization, exploring iconic landmarks like the Acropolis, Parthenon, and vibrant modern culture, leaving them with a profound appreciation for Greece’s timeless legacy.

Athens (Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, Monastiraki, Thissio, historical centre)

Itinerary

The largest city of Northern Greece. Transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. An optional general tour of city can be offered in the late afternoon. Dinner (optional) and overnight at the hotel. 

After breakfast an experienced guide will guide you to a panoramic tour of the city of Thessaloniki with luxury buses of our company. We will visit the Arch, Byzantine churches, Rotonda, Saint Sofia, Egnatia, Aristotle Square. Our bus will ascend the Castle over city where another world with end-less beauty unfolds. We will visit the Byzantine Museum with its wonderful exhibits of Macedonian and Byzantine Culture. We stop at the Church of St. Demetrios the Great Martyr and visit the Crypt. Visit to the White Tower. In the afternoon we will continue the exploration of the city center, where we will visit numerous monuments from the Byzantine period. Most interesting among them are the churches of the Transfiguration, St. Catherine and some others from the late Byzantine period. We also try to visit some newer churches with interesting new icons, murals and mosaics. Dinner and overnight at Thessaloniki.

After Breakfast full day tour to the Archaeological site of Vergina. There you will be guided by guide-archaeologist, to the findings of the Royal Tombs of Philip II with magnificent frescoes. Then you depart for the beautiful Veria 12km from Vergina. Lunch during the visit we will see the ruins of the ancient city of Veria, mansions and architecture in Veroiotiki preserved neighborhoods Kyriotissa the Bema of Apostle Paul and the Municipal Park. Late afternoon we depart for our hotel, settle in our rooms, rest. Dinner and overnight at Thessaloniki.

After breakfast at the hotel full day tour to Philippi. Visit the archaeological site. We will continue to Kavala. Visits to the Roman aqueduct,to the Castle and to the house of Mehmet Ali. Lunch during visit. Next stop to Amphipolis. Visit archaelogical site the the famous “Lion of Amphipolis”. Dinner and overnight at Thessaloniki.

After breakfast drive to Meteora, among striking scenery, perched on top of huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Monasteries, where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Arrive in Delphi dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at the hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to the Airport for the departure flight home.

After Breakfast a half day guided tour of Athens. See the Constitution square, the Parliament, the Presidential Palace, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the marble Olympic Stadium, then arrive and visit the Acropolis, the museum and the site. Lunch during visit return to the hotel. Afternoon free dinner and overnight at Athens.

After Breakfast – Transfer to the airport for the flight back Home
